The follow up to Universal’s film dance sensation, the legacy of the legendary dancer and choreographer Honey Daniels lives on in spirited 17-year-old Maria Bennett (Katerina Graham). After a brush with the law, Maria has returned to her gritty Bronx roots to rebuild her life with nothing but a talent for street dance and a burning ambition to prove herself.
Keeping on the straight and narrow means living with Honey’s mum Connie and holding down a job just to make ends meet. But a rare night out at a local dance club gives Maria an opportunity to let loose with a joy and energy she had almost forgotten. Maria’s raw talent and killer moves catch the eye of Brandon (Randy Wayne), a Rec Center volunteer, who invites her to help him transform a group of gifted but undisciplined dancers called the HDs. Maria’s skills also attract the attention of her old boyfriend Luis (Christopher Martinez), the charismatic leader of the award-winning 718 dance crew, who hopes to lure her back into the street world she is trying to escape.
Alongside the killer dance moves there is a pretty impressive score to match including La Roux, Far East Movement and Estelle – get ready for sparks to fly as the beat heats up!

A little information has trickled in about Honey 2 over the past few days. The movie, which is scheduled to head straight to DVD will be available sometime around August 2011 according to the official Honey 2 Facebook page. This date is not official, however, and is likely to change.
The premiere was held on March 2nd in Los Angeles, sadly Kat couldn’t be there as she was filming in Alanta.
I’ve also caught up on some behind the scenes pics from the set, most of which were posted back in June/July 2010.

Featuring a young cast led by The Vampire Diaries’ Katerina Graham, Honey 2 has started shooting in Los Angeles with a DVD premiere date scheduled for the fall of 2011.
Inspired by Honey, the hip hop movie starring Jessica Alba, Mekhi Phifer, Joy Bryant and Lil’ Romeo, Honey 2 takes audiences into the complex world of street crews who express both their individuality and community through an awe-inspiring array of dance styles including b-boy, turfin’, hyphy, morphing, gliding, popping, locking, salsa and jazz, among many others.
The film is set to be the latest in the Universal Studios Home Entertainment DVD Originals line. Honey 2 is directed by Bille Woodruff (Beauty Shop), who brought the first Honey to the big screen in 2003 and directed music videos around for top-recording artists including Britney Spears, R. Kelley, Toni Braxton, Mary J. Blige, Joe, Celine Dion, Jessica Simpson and Nelly.
Honey 2’s executive producer Marc Platt has produced some of Hollywood’s most memorable movies including the original Honey, Wanted, the Legally Blonde films, Nine and the soon-to-be- released Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Charlie St. Cloud. Platt is also the producer of Broadway’s blockbuster musical “Wicked.” Paul Hellerman (The Mexican, Jackie Brown) serves as producer.
In Honey 2, Katerina Graham (CW’s “The Vampire Diaries”) stars as Maria, a young girl who uses her passion for dance as a means to overcome adversity and life on the streets. Joining Graham is a diverse cast of incredible actors and dancers, including Randy Wayne (Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning), Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender), Christopher “War” Martinez (Bring It On: Fight to the Finish), Brittany Perry Russell (“CSI: NY”), Tyler Nelson (Stomp The Yard 2), Luke Broadlick (Britney Spears “Circus” tour, Step Up 3-D), and Melissa Smith (“The Pussycat Dolls Present: the Search for the Next Doll”).
Also rounding out the cast are dancers Casper Smart and Justin DeAnda, character actor Gerry Bednob (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Lonette McKee (Honey, Sparkle) who reprises her role of Connie Daniels from the original film.
Honey 2 mixes it up with well-known dance crews from all over the country in a nuclear-powered tribute to edgy moves, complex footwork and freestyle. From California’s Quest Crew (winners of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew, Season 3), Fanny Pak and the Beat Freaks to the Las Vegas-style breaking of Super Cr3w and the Strikers All-Stars of Tallahassee, Florida, the dancers bring on their most outrageous routines in a showdown for bragging rights as the best of the best.
Fans of Katerina Graham may be used to watching her work her magic on the small screen, but now the Vampire Diaries star is going to show the world what she can do on the big screen when she stars in the new dance film Honey 2.
The sequel to the 2003 film Honey, starring Jessica Alba, follows dancer Maria Ramirez, who just got out of juvenile detention. Teaming up with a new crew, Maria is able to channel her talent in a whole new way. Kat is a trained dancer and singer, so the leading role is a perfect fit for her.
Billie Woodruff, who directed the first film, will be behind the lens again for the new and improved movie. The film is already in production in L.A., so we hope to see Honey 2 out in theaters by next year. How excited are you to see Kat in this new role? We already know she can play a good witch, so we can’t wait to see her moves on the dance floor.
According to PerezHilton.com, Kat has been cast in Honey 2! Here’s what he wrote on his website:
Out with the old, in with the new and improved!
Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, Bonnie the witch on the hit TV show, has been cast to replace Jessica Alba in the sequel to Call Me Latina’s film Honey.
Graham, a trained dancer and singer, will be shaking her stuff in the film, directed by Billie Woodruff.
Production on Honey 2 has begun in Los Angeles. The movie is expected to be released later this year.
In addition to Kat Graham, several known “dance crews” have also been cast in the film.
Should be hot!
